The Citronella fragrance can be released by crushing the leaves between your fingers or a light misting from the hose. Keep in mind that the scented geraniums like many herbs prefer to grow on the dry side. Scented Geraniums can grow up to 2 feet tall. This variety does bear sporadic pink flowers in the summer. I treat scented pelargoniums as annuals here in my zone 6 garden. They are easy to pot up and bring indoors for the winter at the end of the growing season.
